Now...Oaktown, Action, Meat, and the Sky
November found us traveling to Oakland to meet the newest Rockmael/Svingos creation, Skyler. Skyler, sister of Action, Cousin of Lucie, Granddaughter of Gooey and Papa, child of hair and height. We stayed each night in the luxury accommodations of the Svingos house in the shadow of El Diablo mountain, and then traveled to the Rocksvingos bungalow in Rockridge/Oakland to play by day.
For dinner, Jimmy knightly presented me with a different meat offering, the most fantastic of which is pictured below. We spent our days at the Oakland Zoo, trolling for secondhand baby goods in the opulent cast aways of pseudo-hippy/liberal Berkeley, jogging with the Luce Goose through Arbolado park, and fomenting my newfound crumpet addiction.
Notable moments include Jackson running around the house screaming "where's my baby, where's my baby, where's my baby?" as Skyler lay sleeping in the bouncy chair blissfully unaware that she was being wrapped into the evolving psyche of her brother.
Another is Jackson's challenge of the crocodiles at the zoo, and mastery of the spider's web. These traits bode well for the future of the Rockmael/Svingos spawn. He knows no fear - especially when Gooey is near. It was also good to see Cookie and Jimmy reveling in grandparentdom. A closet of toys for Jackson, plenty of projects for teaching the right tool for the right job, and always a warm chest waiting for a napping Skyler.
We look forward to running with the naked geriatrics in May and seeing Skyler and Jackson continue to sprout in the sun and water of their family.
